Preparing your Apple iPhone for sale
If you are preparing your iPhone to sell, there are some steps you need to follow. You want to get rid of all of your personal information properly to get your device ready for the next owner.
If your device runs iOS 10, make sure you sign out of iCloud before you start erasing your device or else you can delete your content from iCloud as well as any other devices you have in iCloud such as your iPad.
To start with, make sure you unpair your iPhone with any other devices like your Apple Watch. Next, you should back up your iOS devices. Got to settings and iCloud. Scroll down until you see Sign Out. Note: if you have iOS 7 or earlier you will tap Delete Account.
For your next step, go back to settings and tap General, Reset, and Erase All Content. You might have to use your Apple ID and password if you have previously turned on Find My iPhone. If you are prompted to enter your device passcode or Restrictions passcode, go ahead and enter it and then press Erase.
