Are you ready to upgrade your current MacBook Pro? You might want to wait a bit longer instead of getting what’s out right now. Trust me on this. There are some exciting updated MacBook features being discussed in the rumour mill. Let’s take a look at a few of the more exciting rumoured updates to this classic Apple product.
MacBook Pro Rumoured Updated Features
M2 Pro and M2 Max chip
A pretty juicy rumour leaked by a MacRumors forum user claims that the new MacBook Pro models will have a M2 Pro and M2 Max chip. These are upgraded versions of the Apple M2 chip. What’s so special about them? Well, it seems that these will allow for very fast RAM and very high bandwidth. The current version of the MacBook Pro has LPDDR5 RAM which is not too shabby. It delivers bandwidth of up to 200 GB/s with the M1 Pro. The M1 Max delivers up to 400 GB/s. It’s possible, however, that with a boost to the M2 chip, the next MacBook Pros- the 14 and 16-inch, could get a boost of up to 33% on the bandwidth.
Efficient Battery
Another rumour is that the memory is going to be more energy efficient while using less power. The new MacBook Pros might be faster but will also have a longer battery life making it easier to be able to stay mobile with your device without feeling tethered to a charger. There could be as much as a 20% reduction in power consumption. Of course, this will depend on the activities of the user. Some tasks will drain the battery faster than others, but with a 20% decrease in power consumption, most users are likely notice a difference.
What Else?
What other rumoured new MacBook features are there? It seems that the design of the 14- and 16- inch models will remain the same externally. That’s not really such a bad thing; the design is still very fresh and modern looking.
Now I know what you’re thinking: How can one trust a random MacRumors forum user? Well, this particular user has a pretty solid reputation of giving out Apple tech tips. So, you can wait for the newest MacBook Pros to be released in the not-too-distant future and see if these rumors are true, or you can get one of the current offerings from Apple if you simply cannot wait.
